William Frawley is an American Actor who has a net worth of $10 million. He was born on 26 February 1887 and is 79 years old. He is famous for his role as Fred Mertz on I Love Lucy.

He began his career in show business as a stenographer for the Union Pacific Railroad. However, he soon found himself getting involved in amateur theatrical productions and performing in vaudeville. His mother was not happy with this, so he took up a position as a court reporter to appease her.

Despite this, he was still very interested in acting. Eventually, he was cast in several roles on Broadway and in Hollywood. However, his drinking problem was beginning to get the best of him and he began to lose his jobs. This led to him starting to become very unreliable. So, when Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz approached him with the role of gruff landlord Fred Mertz on I Love Lucy, they were leery. They agreed to hire him only if he could control his alcoholism. They also told him that he would only be given three chances, the first time being tolerated, the second time getting him a severe reprimand and the third time would mean that he was fired from the show.

Despite this, they were very pleased with his performance and he earned five consecutive Emmy nominations for his role on I Love Lucy. Although he and his on-screen wife, Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance), didn’t get along real well, they did enjoy working together. Most believe that their animosity stemmed from the fact that Frawley was 22 years her senior.
