Where is Trent Richardson Now?

March 10, 2024

The first full week of OTAs have wrapped up, and the NFL is gearing up for its new season. One player who is still chasing his dream is former Alabama running back Trent Richardson, who is hoping to find a job with an NFL team.

The former Heisman Trophy finalist is a graduate of Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida and played at the University of Alabama. Richardson won two national championships with the Crimson Tide under coach Nick Saban and set a school record for single-season rushing yards. He was drafted third overall by the Cleveland Browns in 2012. However, he never lived up to his hype. After struggling with injuries, he was eventually traded to the Indianapolis Colts. He never got off the ground with the Colts and was eventually released from the league.

He has since played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL and Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football. During his brief time with the AAF, he was a top rusher for the Iron and scored several touchdowns.

Recently, the former Alabama running back signed a contract with the Caudillos de Chihuahua of the Mexican American Football League. It is not yet known what his role will be with the team. He has been training in Arizona and is expected to play his next game on April 15. During an interview with WVTM13, Richardson talked about how he is focusing on getting better each day and hopes that he will have another chance to suit up for the NFL someday.
