Where is Steve Ross Yoga Now?

March 14, 2024

HE toured with Fleetwood Mac and the Beach Boys but Steve Ross is more at home in the yoga studio. The guitarist lived the rock ’n’ roll dream but always preferred to meditate over partying with his peers. He now teaches yoga in Geelong.

He’s also written books about yoga and meditation, including the popular Happy Yoga: 7 Reasons Why There’s Nothing to Worry About. The yoga program on Oxygen is currently off air while they get all the music rights sorted but it’s expected to come back soon.

His soothing voice and love of painting have helped him become a highly sought-after instructor. He has been teaching people the stretching breathing that he learned as a child from his father Bob Ross and he’s still using the same technique that made him famous.

The 67-year-old has taught thousands of students over the years, he says. He’s also led retreats and has a thriving private therapeutic practice. He credits the discipline with helping him through his rocky relationship with his ex-wife and subsequent divorce.

He reveals that his spiritual journey started with his father, who introduced him to meditation. He later became a Vedic monk in 1992, with a shaved head and spent four years learning to live a life of devotion and meditation. His time as a monk taught him to understand that everything is in the moment and not to dwell on the past or worry about the future.
