Where is Paul Steven Mack Now?

March 6, 2024

When Paul Steven Mack met Margie Bult in a western-themed bar, she was smitten with him. He was charming and kept flashing a bright grin at her. He even asked her to dance, and she obliged. Margie had no idea that the handsome man she met was on the lam from murder charges. He was, in fact, the main suspect in the rape and murder of aspiring model Annette Huddle.

He claimed that he had never met Winslett, but gave investigators a list of names along with hers that included people who might have worked at his country club. He said he had called her to set up an interview but that she had cancelled when she found out she was moving. The detectives were skeptical but forensics matched the fibers in her clothes to those in his house, and they arranged for him to surrender in early 1987.

Instead, he fled to Utah and established himself under an alias. He married a woman, who didn't know of his past, and lived in Murray until 1988, when a spot on America's Most Wanted produced a tip.

After a brief investigation, police arrested him and brought him back to Sacramento. He was convicted of murder and rape and sentenced to 25 years in prison. He died in a California prison in 2018, at the age of 75. To learn more about this fascinating case, watch 'Charmed To Death,' airing Sundays at 7/6c on Oxygen.
