Where is Patrizia Reggiani Now?

November 11, 2023

The Italian socialite has been living in Milan since she was released from prison in 2016 after serving only a fraction of her 26-year sentence. She is now a consultant for the costume jewelry firm Bozart and works with a design team, though her job description sounds more like reading fashion magazines and advising her staff. The former socialite has also reportedly been doing some volunteer work.

Patrizia was born Patrizia Martinelli and grew up poor in northern Italy. She met Maurizio Gucci, the heir to the Gucci fashion empire and son of the founder of the company, at a party in New York City in the 1970s. Initially, his father Rodolfo disapproved of the marriage and claimed that she was a “social climber.” However, he eventually approved it and gave them a penthouse apartment.

After their divorce, Maurizio was murdered by a hitman hired by Patrizia in 1995. She was branded “The Black Widow” in the media, and prosecutors said she hired the killer out of jealousy and resentment. She has also been accused of using her inheritance to fund the murder.

In prison, Patrizia struggled to adjust to life behind bars and attempted suicide at one point. However, with time, she became accustomed to her incarceration and even convinced her lawyers to let her keep a pet ferret, which ultimately died when another inmate accidentally sat on it.

When Patrizia was released from jail in 2016, she wanted to forget about her past and to a certain extent, she succeeded. But the entertainment industry has a way of going back in time and unearthing controversial topics for viewers. She was reintroduced to the public as soon as posters for 'House of Gucci' surfaced online.
