Where is Pablo Ibar Now?

September 7, 2023

Pablo ibar is currently serving life in prison in florida for the murders of three people during a home invasion robbery at their Hollywood business in 1994. The victims included Casimir “Butch Casey” Sucharski, the owner of Casey’s Nickelodeon nightclub; Sharon Anderson, a dancer at sucharski’s club; and Marie Rogers, a customer at the club. The crime was captured on grainy surveillance video, and prosecutors say Ibar is one of the assailants seen in the footage, as well as having DNA on a T-shirt found at the scene.

In a retrial, the jury found Ibar guilty of three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed burglary with a deadly weapon. His co-defendant Seth Penalver was acquitted in the same trial.

Ibar has always maintained his innocence. He credits his mother’s testimony during his first trial for the hung jury, in which she vehemently denied identifying him from a photo. Ibar also points to the fact that a facial identification expert testified that the person in the surveillance video was not Ibar.

He has been fighting to get his sentence vacated and a new trial. His story has attracted wide support in Spain, where he is a citizen. The Spanish government has even set up an association to raise funds for his defense.
