Neil Darish has been a long time resident of the small town of McCarthy, Alaska. He has a lot of experience working in the wilderness. He works as the Director of Operations at McCarthy Lodge. This is where he creates high quality restaurants, retail stores and hotel accommodations. He is also a part of the National Park Service where he serves as a guide for tourists who visit Wrangell St-Elias National Park & Preserve.
He has become quite famous due to his appearance on the show Edge of Alaska on Discovery Channel. The show depicts him as a businessman who is trying to bring change in the tucked away town of McCarthy. However, the locals don’t like his ideas. They feel that he is tearing down the tranquility of the town.
His idea of bringing tourists to the town is something that doesn’t sit well with the locals. They feel that it will be bad for the town’s economy. Darish on the other hand believes that he can make McCarthy a popular tourist destination.
He is a big fan of Alaska and has been working in the region for a long time. He has mined gold, guided hunters and trapped in the Wrangells. He has a lifetime of experiences and observations that he wants to share with the world.
As the season of Edge of Alaska draws to a close, Hidden Remote caught up with Neil Darish to talk about the finale and what is in store for the future.
