Where is Malik Muhammad Now?

March 14, 2024

Malik Muhammad gained prominence for his splash plays around the rim for the East Los Angeles College Eagles men's basketball team on the Netflix series "Last Chance U." But now, after a few stops in collegiate hoops, where is he now?

In 2023, Malik Muhammad will 'hook 'em horns' in Austin. The incoming South Oak Cliff high school senior cornerback will commit to the University of Texas football program, and it's a move that makes a lot of sense for the young prospect. Muhammad is an all-state talent at the position, and he's also a member of one of the most prominent sports families in Dallas ISD history. His cousin Jabbar Muhammad plays cornerback for Oklahoma State, and his other cousin is current Arizona Cardinals wide receiver A.J. Green.

While the two cousins are a few wins away from a national title, they have kept their smack talk to a minimum in the lead-up to Monday's game. It's likely a result of both of them wanting to be part of UT's next championship run.

Muhammad will be a welcome addition to the Longhorns' secondary, where the 6-foot-1 cornerback has been a top-rated recruit. His relationship with UT's coaching staff and players was a big factor in his decision, along with the fact that the school is his home. Their connection is likely to blossom even more when he arrives on campus in 2023. He'll be joined by a number of other top-ranked recruits, including five-star linebacker Anthony Hill and fellow high school all-star defensive back Billy Walton III.
