Where is JB Mauney Now?

March 11, 2024

After a whirlwind career that saw him win the PBR World Championship twice, JB Mauney hung up his bull riding boots. He retired after suffering from a neck injury that left him with plates, screws and rods attached to his body. The 36-year-old landed on his head after getting bucked off Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics' Arctic Assassin during the Lewiston Roundup Division 2 Xtreme Bulls event. He ended up having to have a disc removed from his neck in corrective surgery.

The champion, who was known for his aggressive style and awe-inspiring performances, dominated the sport for nearly two decades. He was an influential figure who shaped the careers of many aspiring riders and his fans couldn't get enough of his amazing talents. The legend was also a phenomenal family man, despite the immense popularity that came with his profession.

As for his whereabouts now, the two-time world champion is settled in Stephenville, Texas. He bought a spacious 5,000 square foot home there around 2020 and has since been working on the property to make it a comfortable abode for his family. He has also started training his little champ to become the next great bull rider in the making.

Mauney's impressive ability to come back from awful injuries in the past only added to the importance of his decision to hang up his hat. However, his retirement was met with an outpouring of support from fellow cowboys and fans alike, all of them wishing him a happy life after a helluva career.
