Where is Jake Fromm Now?

March 15, 2024

Six years ago, Jake Fromm was a heavily recruited four-star quarterback prospect with SEC schools vying for his services. Now he's on his third NFL roster, this time with the Washington Commanders. The Commanders signed him to a futures contract in January. While he may never be a starting quarterback in the league, Fromm could still make a name for himself as an NFL offensive coordinator.

In fact, that's one of the few things Fromm wishes he had a do-over on when it comes to his decision to leave Georgia after three years as a starter. Fromm knew he had to go pro, but he didn't know COVID-19 quarantine rules would limit his playing opportunities.

Fromm got the chance to play with the Bills last season, but he wasn't able to seize the starting job. He ended the year with a forgettable stat line of 27-for-60, 210 yards and a single touchdown with three interceptions.

His lone start of 2021 came in Week 16 as a replacement for Mike Glennon, who was out with a wrist injury. Fromm finished with a 35.3 percent completion percentage and threw his first career touchdown pass in the fourth quarter -- a 22-yarder to Darius Slayton.

With the Commanders, Fromm should see some playing time as a backup to Sam Howell this season. He has a high-floor and low-ceiling, but his mental makeup should allow him to stay in the league as a capable reserve.
