Where is Hayden Christensen Now?

March 13, 2024

In 2000, Hayden Christensen was just 19 years old when he first appeared on the big screen. After a few minor roles in films like 'The Virgin Suicides' and TV shows like 'Higher Ground', the young actor got his biggest break when he was cast as Anakin Skywalker in the 'Star Wars' prequel trilogy. George Lucas had gone through over 1500 candidates before choosing Christensen for the role, and the young actor was thrust into the limelight overnight. But the pressure didn't kill him; Christensen managed to deliver a memorable performance as a Jedi whose innocence would be corrupted and turned into evil by his ambition and obsession with power.

The 41-year-old Canadian actor went on to appear in two more Star Wars movies – 2002's Attack of the Clones and 2005's Revenge of the Sith – as well as several spin-off series including the animated movie and micro-series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the animated television show Star Wars Rebels. He also starred in the independent dramas Life as a House and Shattered Glass in 2001 and 2003 respectively, receiving praise for his performances.

Christensen recently made a return to the galaxy far, far away in the Disney+ series Ahsoka. The show follows the infamous Jedi apprentice Ahsoka Tano, played by Rosario Dawson, and her master, Anakin Skywalker. But it's unclear if this will mark the end of his Star Wars journey.

Ewan McGregor is slated to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the upcoming Star Wars series for Disney+, and it's been hinted that Christensen will play a different version of Darth Vader. The series will take place a few years after the events of 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi, in which Anakin dies and becomes a Force ghost.
