Where is Claire Miller Now?

March 11, 2024

In February 2021, 14-year-old Claire Miller amassed a large TikTok following for her lip-synching videos. But at home, her older sister Helen had cerebral palsy and spent most of her time in a wheelchair. The two sisters lived together in a Manheim Township home, with their parents also sleeping upstairs. The day after the attack, police flooded the home with armed officers and discovered Helen had been stabbed to death in her bed, where she was found wrapped in a blanket.

Lancaster County Judge Jeffrey Wright sentenced Claire to 12 1/2 to 40 years in prison on Friday afternoon after she pleaded guilty but mentally ill to the third-degree murder of her sister, who died while she was sleeping. The teen said she stabbed her sister after a psychotic episode and believed the voices were telling her to kill her. Wright asked her a series of questions to make sure she understood what she was pleading guilty to and that she entered her plea knowingly, intelligently and voluntarily.

A petition to move the case to juvenile court was denied after prosecutors and defense counsel presented testimony that the teen had a psychotic break, including auditory command hallucinations, at the time of the stabbing. Her lawyer argued that the juvenile system would not be able to rehabilitate her and that she should remain in adult court. He also asked for a mental health expert to be consulted in the future, according to the district attorney's office.
