If you watched Season 3 of Last Chance U, then you probably remember a linebacker/safety named Bobby Bruce. He was a key part of the Independence Community College team, but after getting arrested on robbery charges he ended up being kicked off the team. What has happened to him since then?

Bobby Bruce was a talented young football player that was a big part of the Independence Community College Pirates for the 2018 season. He was a good defensive player and had a lot of potential but his off-the-field issues were a real concern for head coach Jason Brown.

In June of 2018, Bruce was arrested for armed robbery in Palm Bay, Florida. He was accused of entering a home with another person, brandishing a firearm, and taking the victim’s belongings.

He was charged with one felony count of robbery, a misdemeanor count of burglary and a petty theft charge. However, the robbery charges were dropped after witnesses gave conflicting testimonies and there was no physical evidence to tie Bruce to the incident.

Bruce did not get a big Division I offer but he decided to keep playing football. He has signed with the Manatee Neptunes of the Arena Football League. This might not be the career path that he wanted, but it will give him some experience and maybe help him find a way to get back into the NFL. He also has a 1-year-old son now so it’s important that he makes something of himself for him and his family.
