What Happened to Tommy Lee?

November 10, 2023

Whether you're a fan of heavy metal, rap or even comedy, it's hard not to have heard of Tommy Lee. The drummer, real name Thomas Lee Bass, first rose to fame in the 1980s as part of glam metal band Motley Crue alongside frontman Vince Neil and guitarist Mick Mars, recording 20 albums including studio, live and compilation records. In the years that followed, Lee created his own rap metal group Methods of Mayhem and also took to the small screen, starring in a reality show on NBC called Tommy Lee Goes to College and later guest-starring on The Goldbergs.

But perhaps the biggest headlines Lee has made came in 2021 when he posted an Instagram picture of himself nude with only his private parts blurred. Though it was controversial for some, he received much support from fans and others who supported his decision to be more vulnerable with his followers.

In February 2022, Lee was back in the spotlight as he suffered from four broken ribs during a performance with Motley Crue on their upcoming farewell tour. He was forced to exit the stage after five songs due to his injury, with drum technician Tommy Clufetos filling in for the remainder of the concert.

But the most talked about thing happening with Lee now is Pam & Tommy, a Hulu miniseries based on his infamous relationship with Baywatch star Pamela Anderson and their stolen sex tape scandal. Lee recently opened up to ET about the project and how he feels about Sebastian Stan portraying him in the upcoming series.
