What Happened To Dane Cook?

When it comes to celebrities, it's not uncommon for them to find a lot of success and then slowly fade into the background. It happens to actors who hit a few choice movies and then lose their appeal, and it certainly happens to musicians who get their big break and never repeat it. But what about comedians? Is there such a thing as a 'comeback' after a meteoric rise to the top?

Dane Cook was one of the most popular comedians in the 2000s. He dominated the stand-up circuit, released several critically acclaimed comedy albums, made an appearance or two on TV shows and even starred in a few movies. He seemed like he was on the verge of doing something really special, maybe transitioning into bigger acting roles or even a sitcom. But, then all of a sudden, his popularity just started to fizzle out. He's still working and still putting out occasional comedy specials, but his days of selling out Madison Square Garden seem like they're well and truly in the past.

What Happened To Dane Cook?

One possibility for why his career stalled is that he just wasn't very funny to begin with. Some critics and fellow comedians had a hard time seeing anything beyond rudimentary slapstick in his routines, and he had his fair share of embarrassing moments. The most notable was when his business manager was caught embezzling $12 million from him and ended up getting jailed. That kind of scandal is bound to sour any public's perception of someone.
