Viva La Meaning

July 30, 2023

Viva la meaning is a way of showing love, admiration, and excitement for something. It’s usually used to show support and enthusiasm for a cause or idea, but it can also be used for people or things you love in your life. You may have heard this phrase before, especially if you are a fan of Coldplay and their fourth album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.

The album title was taken from a Spanish phrase that translates to “long live life.” The actual meaning of the phrase is a little different. It’s actually a form of the Spanish word acclamation, “viva,” which means live or alive. So, Viva la Vida basically means long live life or alive forever.

On the album cover, a portion of Eugene Delacroix’s 1830 painting Liberty Leading the People is displayed. This painting is a depiction of the French Revolution and the death of King Louis XVI. This makes it a perfect fit for the song, which essentially retells the story of the Revolution.

Viva la is also a popular expression among Mexicans who celebrate their culture and heritage. The Mexican version of Viva la is Viva el Pueblo or Viva Mexico. It’s a national pride slogan that continues to be used today. It’s even the at-bat music for the Kansas City Royals when they score a home run. The New York Rangers have also used this song to celebrate their wins at Madison Square Garden.
