University of California, Davis

The University of California, Davis is a public research university based in Davis, California. It is a member of the University of California system. This comprehensive, multi-disciplinary university offers programs in many different fields, including arts, science, medicine, engineering, education and business.

With over 30,000 undergraduate students, UC Davis is one of the largest schools in the University of California system. Students have the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned scientists in the world. Some of the best programs available at UC Davis are in agriculture, health, and environmental sciences.


The University of California, Davis Arboretum and Public Garden is an educational resource for the community of Davis and Central Valley residents. It is an open-air museum featuring plants, animals and demonstration gardens.

The University of California, Davis Arboretum is an approximately 100-acre arboretum. It is situated on the southern edge of the UC Davis campus.

Design Museum of UC Davis

Design is a creative art, and the Design Museum at the University of California Davis focuses on understanding it. In addition to exhibiting designs from all over the world, the museum also explores design in everyday objects and environments. The museum features a collection of more than 5,000 items that range from a Japanese oxcart to a modern university building.

The Design Museum is open on Monday through Friday, and Sundays at various times. Admission is free.

If you are interested in the history of design, the museum offers a collection of photographs from previous shows. Each semester, the museum changes its exhibits. It also enlists senior undergraduate students from the Department of Design to assist in the handling of objects.
