The pandemic has left us with pent-up demand for quite a lot of things, and many industries are experiencing spikes in demand and growth. One such industry is surgery, both cosmetic and plastic, which are both experiencing increased demand at the minute. In this article, we explore what the future holds for cosmetic surgery trends.

More Surgery

First, we’re likely to see more surgeries in the coming years. Despite there being more talk about the dangers of surgery and an increase in the number of people shunning surgery for clean, natural living, we are a society obsessed with how we look.

A quick scroll down your Instagram feed will reveal an abundance of influencers and famous faces who wouldn’t dare upload an image with as much as a blemish. In addition, we are constantly aspiring to the heavily filtered lives that we see on TV and social media.

The end result is an abundance of young people feeling the need to chase the looks that they see on their phones and TVs, a trend that doesn’t appear to be going anywhere.

Male Surgery

It’s becoming increasingly common for cosmetic surgery procedures to be carried out on men. At the heart of this is society’s increased acceptance for men to keep on top of their appearance. While the term “being in touch with your feminine side” was once used, using things like sun beds, makeup, and skincare products is just seen as the norm for guys today.

While these procedures are losing their feminine tag, cosmetic surgery is heading the same way at an alarming rate. There were 8% more male patients seeking cosmetic surgery last year compared to 2022.

Fat Related Surgery

Cosmetic surgery related to fat loss or body shape is particularly on trend at the minute and shows no signs of slowing down. Possibly driven by the celebrity-chasing trends mentioned previously.

No matter how far you go back in time, you’ll find a celebrity being heralded as possessing the holy grail of bodies. But today, famous faces and bodies are more visible than ever in the era of influencer marketing.

As a result, surgeons like Gary Ross report carrying out more surgeries like liposuction and mummy makeovers.
