The murder of Laci Peterson and her unborn child was the most heinous act ever carried out in human history. It not only ended his hopes of spending the rest of his life with Amber Frey, but also took away his freedom.

He was convicted of killing his wife and the unborn son in 2002, and later sentenced to death by lethal injection. He has since served his sentence in a California prison.

Scott was born on October 24, 1972, in San Diego, California. His father, Lee Arthur Peterson, owned a crate packaging company, while his mother, Jacqueline Helen Latham, ran a boutique in La Jolla.

When he was growing up, Scott Peterson always had a dream of becoming a professional golfer. His father was always happy to help him improve his game.

While he was in college, he met and began dating Laci Denise Rocha, who worked at the Pacific Cafe in Morro Bay. She also attended Cal Poly as an ornamental horticulture major.

She and Peterson were married in 1997 and lived in the Avila Valley area of San Luis Obispo County. They opened a sports bar in San Luis Obispo, but their parents were not supportive of their business.

After Laci graduated from Cal Poly, she and Peterson moved to Modesto. They started a family and opened their first bar, "The Shacks," in 2000. However, they soon began to struggle with the finances.
