When 13-year-old Rion Paige walked off stage after her X Factor audition in 2014, she wasn’t sure what to do. Should she cry on her mom’s shoulder and tell her that the usually curmudgeonly Simon Cowell had compared her to Carrie Underwood? After all, millions of people had become her fans as a result.

Five years later, the Jacksonville native hasn’t let her physical challenges or her faith stop her from following her dream. She’s still singing and leading worship at her church in Florida, but she hopes to enroll at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville soon to study music and lead worship full time.

On the latest episode of the Fox show, Rion sang a new song titled “Blown Away.” She’s hoping to make it to the Top 12.

After a short break, Mario Lopez brought all the judges/coaches and contestants back on stage to announce that Alex and Sierra, Restless Road, and Jeff Gutt were safe this week. This left Carlito Olivero and Rion Paige in the bottom 2 and requiring a judge’s save.

Carlito gave a great performance of “Lighthouse” by Miranda Lambert. However, it wasn’t enough to save him. It was Rion’s turn to sing and she performed a beautiful version of “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga. It was emotional and badass, and she made it through to next week. She’s now preparing to perform again. Check out her performance below!
