There are many songs that can put down your soul and lift it up at the same time, and this is no exception. Rihanna's song "Unfaithful" is one of those songs.
It was released on May 2, 2006, and was the second single from her studio album, A Girl Like Me. It was a top 5 hit in several countries and was certified 3x platinum by the RIAA.
In the first verse, the singer describes her vulnerability to do the wrong things. She wants to do the right thing, but it seems difficult. Her life is filled with sorrow because of her unacceptable and wrongful acts. She is unable to resist it and she feels that her love is in trouble.
Then, in the second verse, she describes a typical situation that she faces with her partner on a frequent basis. She tells him that she's going out to hang with her 'girlfriends' but she knows that he knows that it is a lie. She can see him dying inside everytime she goes out.
She would rather have him dead than live this painful life anymore. He is more of a man than she deserves and their love is strong, but something keeps calling her back to the 'wrong'.
She can't stop cheating on him, and she knows that it is the worst thing that could happen to her. She wants to end the suffering of her partner and stop this bad behaviour, but she can't because she doesn't want to hurt him.
