Lance Berkman is an American former professional baseball player who has a net worth of $60 million. He played 15 seasons in the Major League Baseball (MLB).

He was born on February 10, 1976 in Waco, Texas, USA. He is the son of Cynthia Ann (nee Thomas) and Larry Gene Berkman. He is also the father of four daughters with his wife, Cara Berkman.

Upon graduating from Canyon High School in New Braunfels, Texas in 1994, Berkman attended Rice University, where he played on the Owls’ baseball team. He was named the 1997 National College Player of the Year, and played for legendary coach Wayne Graham. He was a first-team All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball Magazine and Baseball America.

In the 1998 MLB draft, Berkman was selected by the Houston Astros in the first round. He made his professional debut in 1999, and joined the Astros’ vaunted “Killer B” lineup alongside Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio.

He was named a member of the 2005 MLB All-Star Team, and led the Astros to their first playoff berth in the club’s history. He also hit two home runs in the 2006 MLB All-Star Game.

Berkman ranked fifth in the voting for the 2008 National League Most Valuable Player Award. He smashed 29 home runs in the season, and had 106 RBIs. He was also on pace for 130+ hits and a career-high batting average.

Berkman is a devoted Christian and is outspoken about his religious beliefs. He has a large family, including four daughters and lives in Houston, Texas. He has also been active in charity work, with an emphasis on children's health and nutrition. He has also been very generous with his money, and has given away millions to various causes.
