Kevin Alvarez is a rapper and student studying in High School in the United States. However, he had been charged for killing a 15-year-old boy named Lesandro Guzman Feliz aka Junior in the Bronx on June 23, 2018.
The 19-year-old confessed in court to dragging the boy from the bodega into the street, where suspected members of the Trinitarios gang stabbed him repeatedly. He cried in court along with the victim's mother as video surveillance of the boy being dragged from the store was played for the jury. Alvarez also told the court he saw another suspect - later identified as Welfinito Santiago - using "a regular kitchen knife" to stab the teen.
But he has since been re-arrested and is facing murder charges for his role in the Trinitarios member's death. In a plea deal, he could be sentenced to time served for manslaughter and conspiracy if he cooperates with investigators.
Mexico's Alvarez has made a promising start to his international career and is a full-back with tremendous stamina and great technique. He's unafraid to tackle and is an excellent crosser of the ball from wide areas. He was included in Gerardo Martino's squad for the World Cup and appeared against Argentina and Nigeria, despite El Tri's group-stage exit. And while he can't be considered Mexico's breakout star at the tournament, it's clear he has the potential to become one of the country's best defenders.
