Taylor Swift's new album "Evermore" dropped on December 11, and a lot of fans are listening and deciphering each song. The one that has gotten particular attention from sleuthing Swifties is track 12 “long story short,” which has some die-hard fans thinking it might be autobiographical.
The lyrics tell the story of Swift falling from a pedestal and then going down the rabbit hole (and that’s pretty much all we know). Some think it’s a reference to her infamous 2016 feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian over her lyric “Famous” while others say it might be about her ex-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston before she met current boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
Swift is known for detailing her personal life in her music, and it seems like this new album is no exception. The twelfth track in particular has some of her die-hard fanbase wondering if it might be about their favorite pop star falling from a pedestal and going down the rabbit hole.
During the song, Swift is in a denial about her new relationship and feels that it’s too good to be true. She doesn’t want to jinx it by making it public and she also doesn’t want her new lover to feel like she’s playing favorites with him or keeping count of the times they see each other.
While she doesn’t explicitly mention the person in the song, Taylor Swift has admitted that she’s been with Joe Alwyn since 2016. So the fact that she had been dating someone else during this time makes it even more interesting that she reveals her newfound love on a track called long story short.
