Eight is Enough captured the hearts of viewers during its five-season run from 1977 to 1981. The comedy-drama series followed syndicated newspaper editor Tom Bradford and his children, Mary, David, Joanie, Nancy, Elizabeth, Susan, and Tommy, who engaged in a wide range of dramatic and humorous situations. Dick Van Patten portrayed Tom Bradford and his wife Joan, and was joined by a talented cast that included Susan Richardson, Grant Goodeve, Betty Buckley, Connie Needham, Willie Aames, Laurie Walters, and Dianne Kay.
After Eight is Enough, many of the cast members went on to enjoy successful careers in television, film, and theater. Some even reunited for a couple of spin-off TV movies. However, there are a few cast members from the show who haven’t been active in years.
TMZ reports that Adam Rich, who played pageboy-haired son Nicholas Bradford on the ABC sitcom, died on Saturday at age 54. TMZ reports that he was found dead in his Los Angeles home and that the cause of death is currently unknown.
Before appearing on Eight is Enough, Richardson appeared on the popular TV shows Happy Days and The Love Boat. She also starred in the miniseries The Night Watchman, Northern Exposure, and Dynasty. After Eight is Enough, Richardson had guest appearances on a variety of TV shows and starred in the movies Northern Exposure and Solid Gold Hits. Currently, Richardson lives in Pennsylvania away from the limelight and works at a nursing home.
