Don Imus Net Worth

May 19, 2023

Throughout his career as a radio host, he was involved in many scandals and controversies that added up to his net worth. In his heydays, his show Imus in the Morning was broadcast all over the United States. He was also a writer, landscape photographer and humorist.

He was born on 23 July 1940 in Riverside, California and dropped out of school at 17 to become a musician and then worked as a window dresser. He was also a military bugler and railroad brakeman before he found his way into radio. He started with a small Palmdale, California radio station and eventually moved to Sacramento, Cleveland and finally New York City in 1971.

In 2007 MSNBC dropped its simulcast of his show after he made disparaging comments about the Rutgers women’s basketball team. He apologized repeatedly and met with the team to hear their side of the story. He returned to the airwaves at WABC and remained there until his retirement in 2018.

During his lifetime, Imus owned several real estate properties across the country. These include a home in Westport, Connecticut, a ranch in Ribera, New Mexico, and a Manhattan penthouse. He was also known for his philanthropy. He supported organizations like the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance and created Imus Ranch, a ranch that hosted children who were sick.

Imus died on 27 December 2019 at the age of 79. He was survived by Deirdre Coleman, his wife since 1994, and six children.
